Being available for closing shifts, weekends and public holidays is a must.

The Positions on offer

Support the Management team.

Works evening and weekend shifts.

(Approx. 5 - 7 shifts a week)

  • Supervisor

Supports the Management team and the evening / weekend supervisor.

Also works weekend / evening shifts.

(Approx 3 - 5 shifts a week)

About the Capitol

The Capitol Cinema - one of Auckland's best and most iconic heritage cinemas.

The Capitol Cinema opened in 1922, and at that time was one of the most luxurious cinemas in the suburbs of Aukland. The Cinema has stood the test of time, and this year celebrates 101 years! 

We offer the very best in new release films together with upmarket commercial releases, regular special film events and festivals, all in a warm, intimate environment of architectural design.

Job Description

The Cinema Supervisors will support the Cinema Management team and work a variety of front of house cinema shifts.

We love people who are passionate about film. We actively encourage our staff to watch films, read reviews and check out movie trailers! This way they can be confident to talk to customers about the films that we are playing. We want staff who will go the extra mile to give our customers the best experience possible when they visit our cinema.

Responsibilities

Applicants must hold a current manager’s certificate and have experience behind a bar along with general customer service and a passion for film.

Being available for closing shifts, weekends and public holidays is a must.

  • Serving customers (customer satisfaction is the main priority for us!)
  • Box office (Cash handling, selling tickets, food/drinks, loyalty/gift cards)
  • Check tickets / Ushering screenings and events.
  • Cleaning duties (screens, foyers, box office, sweetshop)
  • Manage and operate the Bar and Food/Candy bar (selling our goods to customers, making coffees, selling drinks, making cocktails, Selling other snacks.
  • Restocking and rolling Ice creams on each shift.
  • Cleaning the venue including Foyer, Bar, Toilets, Cinema.
  • Ensuring an over all high level of customer experience
  • Relaying all feedback to the manager on shift

Preferable skills/experience

  • Customer service
  • Can work late into the evenings and on weekends.
  • A willingness to take initiative and be proactive at work.
  • Problem solves on the spot and support the team.
  • A willingness to work alone.
  • Work experience in hospitality or retail is essential.

We’re currently looking for team members to work with a minimum of 10 hours per week.  However, majority of weeks have been forecast to be:

Weekend/Evening Supervisor – 30 + hours PW.

Supervisor – 20 + hours PW.

While there will be some set hours – Flexibility is key when working in the entertainment field. Each week can look different depending on our schedules and event / film obligations.

A variety of shifts are available but being available for closing shifts, weekdays / weekends and public holidays is essential. A rotating roster will be in place at periods to ensure staff get some weekends and evenings off.
